First CHristian Church (Diciples of Christ) - Richmond

We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. This congregation began in Richmond in 1859, and we are just one of more than 3,000 Disciples' congregations in the United States. Disciples have no set system of beliefs, other than our unifying belief that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and we each accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

We are then free to come to our own conclusions as to other religious or theological issues. We do this with integrity through Bible Study and prayer. We need not agree on anything beyond Jesus in order to live out His commandment to Love others as He loved...and still loves...us.

The Disciples logo is the red Chalice with the Cross of St. Andrew in it. The Chalice reminds us of the central role of Communion in our worship and is red to honor Christ's sacrifice. The Cross of St. Andrew reflects the Scottish roots of our movement.

Communion

Holy Communion is served every Sunday during worship.

The Bread and the Cup are symbols of Jesus' sacrifice on behalf of us all and allows us an intimate time to express our gratitude for His Grace.

The Table is open to all.

You do not need to be a member of our congregation or a member of our denomination to partake.

It is Christ who extends the invitation.

Services

Worship: Sundays, 10:30 a.m.

Sunday School: Sundays, 9:00 a.m.

We also stream live on Facebook, so you can join us wherever you are or watch it later at your convince. If you don't have Facebook, services can also be found right here on our website!

During church service, we offer child care for children 6 years and younger. We have a play area for them, where they are supervised by two adults at all times. Older children are welcome to take a kid's activities bag and sit in church with the adults.

Our Building

Our building is handicap accessible. For easy elevator access, please use the atrium entrance located on S 10th Street (look for the glass doors on ground level). Keep an eye out for the "Drop Off Zone" sign put out each Sunday along 10th Street.

The parking lot is located at the back of the building. There are also limited parking spots right across from the church on 10th St., right in front of the Neighborhood Health Center.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
